About James
James has over 20 years of experience in risk related fields including Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA), Safe Shutdown, and Fire Protection. He has developed, coordinated, and lead major Fire Protection and PRA projects for both Pressurized Water Reactor and Boiling Water Reactor nuclear plants. He is responsible for the management and operation of NSA’s Risk Analysis and Fire Protection Engineering Division. The division performs services related to NFPA 805 transition, PRA, Fire PRA, Seismic PRA, Training, Thermal Hydraulic Analysis, and Fire Protection.
James has experience with both BWR and PWR plant systems. As a Principal Consultant, James has experience with nuclear plant engineering, design, operation and licensing. His particular specialties are with PRA, Fire Protection, and Mechanical Systems Design and Maintenance. He has over 18 years of plant experience. While working in the nuclear industry, he was responsible for the management of the PRA, Fire Protection, and Safe Shutdown groups. James has been involved with the development of plant programs including Safe Shutdown (10 CFR 50 Appendix R and NFPA 805), Fire Protection, Severe Accident Management Guidelines, Technical Support for Emergency Response and Internal and External Events PRA. James has extensive experience with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s (NRC) Significance Determination Process. He has been a utility reviewer of the associated methods and procedures. He has assisted plants with evaluating risk significance of issues and with their communication with the regulator. James has experience developing fire and PRA models using a variety of software codes and applications. James has provided technical support to the Emergency Response Organization (ERO). This includes providing technical reviews and implementation support for site specific Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMG). He has also been a member of the ERO response organization in the role of technical advisor for SAMG implementation. |
